Every day that goes by, the world remains ignorant of the truth about Serbia, and the conditions that remain in Kosova. Our Collective Inaction leaves the status of our borders, and Mitrovica vulnerable to being changed to the benefit of Serbia, and our inaction greatly impedes the development of a sustainable economy and a viable Kosovar government.
When We Become An Independent Country:
- There will be no ability by others to change our borders.
- The issue of Serbian Reparations for atrocities will be dealt with.
- Kosova will be a protectorate, with its own Democratic Government until such time that it becomes fully self-sustaining; governmentally, socially, and economically.
- As an independent country, Kosova will develop a military defense force (which a number of western European countries do not want to happen).
- The issue of European membership will be addressed.
- The European Union cannot stop an independent country from making its own foreign policies, treaties, and establishing economic links with others, such as the United States, Albania, Macedonia and Non-European Union Members.
- As an independent country, Kosova has the right to determine its currency, and it could choose other than the Euro, such as the American Dollar, or the British Pound! And these and other choices will be ours, and not determined by the enforced will of others.
However, to achieve full Independence, we need to develop more effective Diplomacy now, or the diplomatic efforts of our enemies will lead us back into dominance by Serbia. We also need to begin the establishment of a Diplomatic Corps by creating the Kosova Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and starting the training of Kosovars that will be necessary to establish our presence in world politics. And we need to challenge the actions of the United Nations and The European Union in their implementation of UN Resolution 1244(1999).
The EU and UNMIK have made their position clear that they will control the foreign affairs of Kosova, and that their goal is for us to only have “substantial autonomy” under Serbia. It is true that UN Resolution 1244(1999) limits the actions of the United Nations in terms of “substantial autonomy,” however, the United Nations was formed with the mandate of supporting human rights and dignity and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
The right of self-determination belongs to the people, and not to any government or to the United Nations! Of all democratic organizations in the world, the UN most certainly cannot interfere with the will of the people in the establishment of a free and democratic society. The UN may not be able to get a Resolution from its member nations to support the full independence of Kosova, but neither can it act in any manner to prevent the people of Kosova from asserting their Independence. Under what legal or moral authority is the UN operating that allows for their continued oppression and suppression of the will of the people of Kosova?
The UN has good intentions, however in its dealings with Serbia they are “In Bed With The Devil.” Even after years of war by Serbia against people in the region, the UN failed to act and intervene against the Serbian atrocities being committed against ethnic Albanians in Kosova, and moral action only came from the leadership of the United States and Great Britain when they led NATO to take action against Serbia. A UN resolution only came about “after the fact” that the US and Great Britain held Serbia accountable for their actions. And we continue to see the UN’s lack of enforcement of its mandates as it avoids holding Iraq accountable for its atrocities. It again took the leadership of the United States, and their president Mr. George Bush, to go to the UN and directly confront them about their shameful lack of action, and to point out their responsibilities, and he demand they take action or the UN “..will become a League of Nations ..” without effectiveness.
Following the war against Serbia, the UN and the EU cooperated in the forced disarmament of the Albanian people, in the name of peace, but no disarmament of Serbians of any kind was imposed on Serbia! They have also resisted the formation of any law that would allow for the right of Kosovars to “bear arms,” a right held in all truly democratic Nations. The UN and the EU apparently are very reluctant to enforce their own Sanctions placed on “Armed Nations,” but they have no difficulty imposing their self-determined Sanctions of “No Arms,” and “No Independence” on Kosova; a defenseless Kosova that they created through disarmament.
UN 1244(1999) is a compromise to serve the self-interests of Nations and organizations that have a political and economic stake in Serbia, and will benefit from Kosova remaining under Serbian Dominance. Compromises are understandable, especially in order to achieve a “cease fire” and bring the parties together to find a peaceful solution. However, compromise is unacceptable when it ignores the people who were oppressed, and acts on behalf of the oppressor who has a long history of aggression against the people in the Balkans.
There was some obvious recognition of the severity of Serbian atrocities against ethnic Albanians in Kosova as shown by the fact that the UN set a tremendous precedence when it authorized the establishment of a UN Government in Kosova with a goal of aiding the establishment of: “.. provisional democratic self-governing institutions to ensure conditions for a peaceful and normal life for all inhabitants of Kosovo.” However, the largest Democratic Organization in the world is running the “government” of Kosova as a “Dictator,” suppressing the will of over 90% of its inhabitants, while it proclaims that this is being done in the name of freedom and the protection of human rights and dignity. The UN does have the responsibility to protect the human rights and dignity of all the people living in Kosova, including the Serbs, but it has no authority or right to suppress the will of the people. The UN has overstepped its moral and legal authority under the UN Charter, and they must now be held accountable.
There is no doubt that the UN is in a “bind” with the human rights of the people of Kosova on one side, and “devil” and his immoral supporters on the other side. If there were any hope that Serbia could change, a peaceful resolution leading to the full Independence of Kosova would have been achieved long ago.
Serbs are without any regret or remorse and they remain focused on Serb Nationalism, and the false premise that some are creating by citing that “Albanians are as bad as the Serbs,” is ridiculous and unsupported in centuries of history. We are sure that there are Serbs who are decent people and want to embrace a Moral Democracy, however, we must be extremely cautious, as there has Never Been a time in Serbian history where Serbs “As A People” have supported equality, human rights, freedom and justice “For All,” and in the absence of real consequences for their behavior, why should they “As A People” change?
Other nations and people of the past that committed atrocities were held accountable, and following punishment and control, they were given opportunity to demonstrate their ability to respect Humanity, and Human Rights and Dignity. “As A People,” Germans and Japanese have truly arisen from the Ashes to be contributors to, and defenders of Human Rights and Dignity, but in the absence of any consequences for their actions, we can expect that Serbs, “As A People” will repeat their history until the day they are truly held accountable.
Unfortunately, instead of holding the Serbian people accountable, Democratic nations of the world are “rewarding” them with money and economic support simply for having “revolted” against a corrupt government that attempted to deny or “steal” the results of their democratic elections in October of 2000. Too many internationals and democratic governments are seeing the one element of Serbian democratic elections as representative of a democracy that will lead to peace. We believe that caution is being set aside in the unrealistic hope of peace, and that significant mistakes are being made that will have potential severe consequences on the people of Kosova. Many events, such as the recent assassination of Serbia’s Prime Minister, Mr. Zoran Gingic clearly show that Serbian Nationalism has greater control than any purported Serbian “Democratic Process.”
History of Appeasement: The behaviors of the United Nations, individual governments and humanitarian organizations since the end of the war are illogical when measured against Morality and Serbian repetition of crimes against Humanity. By coming to the assistance of ethnic Albanians the International Community took another “Moral Stand” against the inhumanity of Serbians, but this “Moral Stand” has been required time after time because of Serbian Aggression and the repeated history of the atrocities they commit in the Balkans. The United Nations, the European Union, and humanitarian organizations minimize the death and destruction created by the Serbian Government, its Church and its people. The process of Appeasement continues to override Morality, and Accountability as Nations focus on Regional Economic and Political issues impacting their countries self-interests. Propaganda, and outright control of the media is designed to create a very different picture to the Citizens of the World than is actually present in Kosova.
It is time for the UN and the EU to “get out of bed” with the “Devil,” and stop opposing and undermining the will of the Kosova people! It is time for the UN and the EU to realize they have no International Legal Authority to prevent our current Government from establishing laws and representing the will of the people. It is time to send the behavior of the UN, the EU and Serbia to The Hague, and have the “dishonorable” trials of Ethnic Albanians replaced by honorable prosecution of the real enemies of freedom and human rights; Serbian atrocities and European Appeasement.
We ask that the United States, Great Britain, and Germany and Japan; historical enemies, now allies; to come together in the name of morality; support the inalienable right of self-determination; stop the immoral Appeasement of the EU and the UN; and help to bring Serbians into the world of humanity, as the world did for Germany and Japan, by holding Serbia accountable.
