Melanie Calderon English 101/ English 096-15 September 11, 2013 Descriptive Essay As I opened my eyes, I saw him lying there, still sleeping and exploring his deepest thoughts. The cold morning air nibbled at my nose as the sun warmed my body. I leaned over and gave him a gentle kiss on his lips to wake him. Opening his eyes slowly he looked over at me with a smile. As he stroked the side of my face with his hand, I felt this caramel colored skin melt over me. After laying there we held each other in perfect silence, we decided to put our clothes on and go for a morning walk.
We took off down a path covered softly with dark green moss and tiny pink flowers. Off to the side of the path were endless trees and plants all bunched together to make one beautiful landscape. After a while, we reached a sparkling, narrow river. It was about nine feet deep and nearly two feet deep. The path went right alongside the water. Down the river, we came to a deep water hole where all the fish danced in the swirling currents. I noticed the water bank was beginning to flow a little faster now, and I could hear the steady, rushing noise of the water falling over he cliffs that were ahead of us.
We walked to the edge to look over the crystal clear lagoon below us. The waterfalls dropped about thirty feet down before it met the pool below. At the sides of the beautiful waterfall were ferns, other green plants, and rocks glistening in the sun. Vines weaved their way down from the trees that towered from the bright sky above us. We decided to climb down towards the water pool. Following the trail, we lost the amazing sight of the glistening waterfall as we went farther down the cliff side. As we reached closer and closer to the bottom, ginormous ocks at the edge blocked all view of the pool and waterfall as it fell with such grace.
Once it became visible, it was a better view than you can ever imagine. From our perspective, we could see the air vapor rising from where the falls that bubbled into the pool. We could see the rainbow forming, gleaming in the sky from the sunlight shining through. It was such a nice day; we decided to go for a swim. The water was cool against our bodies. Slowly moving our way to the other side of the pool, which is only reachable by swimming across, we climbed out to explore the treasures that this agnificent place had in store. After walking through multiple paths, we saw a mother duck and a couple of her babies.
They were pretty small and obviously had a lot to learn before they could swim. Looking farther into the site for something else to explore, we found a hidden trail that led to the rocks closer to the waterfall. We followed it over to where it ended; it was approximately under the fall but a lot closer to where we were. At this point we could see the minor details, and even the rumble of the falls. They seemed so happy, as if this world of nature had life in the isolated world. I could now feel the mist in my face and brushing up against my skin.
It was much colder than I had thought it would be. From the way his muscles tensed, I knew that he was feeling the same cool mist coming upon my body. The spark in his mysterious brown eyes told me that he was enjoying every moment Just as I was. We changed out of our wet clothes and into something warm and dry. Getting into our tent, we knew was our only protection from the rain that was about to start. We laid there in silence for some time. Then, he drifted off the sleep; I lay there in the same place this morning, wondering what he dreamt about.
