I found this task a little tricky as it involved the use of queries in Microsoft Access. Apart from that, extracting the results was very easy.Even though I had a choice of different softwares that I could use I think that my decision of using Access was a smart one. Access is an excellent software, which allows the adding, finding and extracting of data very easy if you get the hang of it. I think that if I were to use a different software such as Excel, it would have taken me a lot longer then it has when using Access.
As for my personal criteria, all of them were satisfied.Evaluation for Task 3 – System to Produce Invitation Inserts and Address LabelsAfter completing this task I was quite pleased with my results. I think that I was very successful in making the Invitation Insert, as it improved dramatically after I chose one of the default backgrounds. I improved the Insert further by using my own pictures, attractive colors and font.I fulfilled almost all of my performance criteria.
I say almost because one of the criteria I had to meet was to have a border. I didn’t have actually have a ‘border’ but I had something very close to it.Because I chose a default background I was careful as to chose one, which had both a suitable background and a good border. The closest one I could match was a background with a blue background. That can be seen in my result.Some of my other performance criteria’s were, the text needs to be clear, to use a suitable font and include a small picture. All these criteria’s were met successfully.I must say that even though I was a new user to Microsoft Publisher, I found it fairly easy to use it.

The first few steps that got me started on my task, were extremely effective, easy to understand and very helpful. I think that publisher is an effective software application that can help create things such as cards, posters or even banners. I’m sure if I had been more experienced in using this software I could’ve created a much improved card insert.Evaluation for Task 4 – Wedding Cost SpreadsheetAfter completing this task I was very pleased with my results. Even though this was one of the most complicated tasks I think I performed the best in this one. I met all my performance criteria’s.Most of them were very simple, for example the spreadsheet had to include the Wedding name and date and had to be one sheet of A4. All these criteria’s were met successfully.
I faced a problem while doing the IF statement. I hadn’t known it until I actually was faced with a problem involving it. I grasped the problem with out difficulties using the help of my teacher and the help-section provided by the software.With the effective use of fonts, colors and borders I was able to produce a very simple, non-technical spreadsheet, which any ordinary person can operate.One of the reasons why I think my spreadsheet was very easy to operate was due to the use of combo boxes. By using ‘Combo Boxes’ there is no problem a user can face, as all you have to do is to select a category.
In this case, the categories were Budget, Standard and Deluxe.I think that Excel is the most suitable software for creating spreadsheets. It is very easy to use and even with minimal knowledge about the software one can produce fairly effective spreadsheets. Spreadsheets that can look attractive with the use of unlimited options, such as different fonts, colors and borders.
Evaluation for Task 5 – Table Layout at the Wedding ReceptionAfter the completion of this task I was very pleased with my results. This task was not that complicated but it was very time consuming. A lot of patience was required in getting the right grid, and then counting the squares each time to get the correct outline for the Cameo room.But this was the only time consuming part of the task. After this, all I had to do was to place the tables and chairs with the help of my hand drafts.There weren’t only two performance criteria’s for this task.
1) I had to make sure that there were at least 2 Four-Seater tables, and 5 Six-Seater tables. 2) There had to be enough space between each table, so that the waiter/waitress could get to every guest with disturbing other guests.Both these criteria’s were simple and easily met.
I think that this task was very successful. Even though Microsoft Word is essentially a word processor, with enough knowledge about the software, this software can be used for nearly anything.One thing I admire about this software; if used correctly, is the ability of it displaying objects neatly. Word had helped me create something that was completely opposite to what its meant to be used for.If the school provided different software such as ‘PrintShop Deluxe’ I would’ve used that.
But I think that Word has done an equally effective job.Evaluation for Task 6 – Guest List at the Wedding ReceptionAfter completing this task I was quite pleased with my outcome. I think that from all the tasks that I have done, this was the easiest one. There were no complications involved, as the only thing that they required was a list of names and tables.However, fitting all the names in one column did take me some time.
I used a variety of different fonts and sizes to see which one was most suitable and at the same time the correct size.I decided to add a border so make my sheet look more attractive. This has always been a problem for me because while printing out the border, the ‘Color Printer’ in our school cuts out one side of the border because of the size of its gutter. (ASK ROBERTS WAT IT WAS?)Apart from that I think that I think that it was all quite easy.
I met all my personal criteria’s. (For example, fitting the names and tables on one side of A4 using a suitable font)Overall I think that my task was successfully completed.
