The US Army Logistics provides the facility specializing to the logistics and army management of the United States. This unit of the US army provides the academic and technical services to military and civilian activities at United States. Some factors (i. e. qualitative and quantitative) affect the performance of the logistics unit of United States (The Army Logistics Library, 2007). The vision of US Army Logistics is to be a premier trainer and educator in sustainment of US military forces.
The premier function of the logistics unit is to enhance the readiness and sustainability of the US military forces through army training, education, and research in technological advancement in the army’s logistics and research system analysis. The quality of the army itself in preparation of materials, working ability / quality of the army, updated protocols, and management of the army affect foremost the performance of the US army logistics unit.
In terms of providing services, the military information is important (The Army Logistics Library, 2007). The supply chain and flow of command are two factors greatly affecting the US Army Logistics. The supply chain includes the supply of military equipments, food supplies, barracks, ammunitions, and supply of army. The lack of technological advancement in military sciences and army training are critical in US army logistics unit.
Secondly, the inefficient flow of command involving information dissemination and quick release of command causes commotion in the system of control in the logistics department (The Army Logistics Library, 2007). Not only the quality of services suffers but also the system of US army’s logistics. Bringing up to date the quality of the army, supply chain, and chain of command infer better performance of the logistics unit of the US army. These qualitative and quantitative factors are necessary in improving the work flow and effectiveness of the army.
