Now, I amgoing to write something about the most popular and timeless tragic drama whichis “Romeo and Juliet”. The whole name of this tragic drama is”The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”. Theexact date of the creation of “Romeo and Juliet” is not known, because there are no documents, which can confirm the time of writing thistragic drama. However, it is said that was the mid-1590s.

The drama “Romeoand Juliet” is often called “the tragedy of love” and counted tothe circle of so-called psychological-poetic dramas. The eventsare shown in the tragedy take place at the end of the 16th century in Italiancities:  in Verona and Mantua. The actionlasts five days and nights.

“Romeo and Juliet” is a drama aboutgreat, youthful love that tries to overcome all adverse circumstances. It isthe love of two people – beautiful, pure and good – but this love is destroyedby the reality surrounding the pair of lovers. In the glorious Verona, the lovers become the victims of the accident, paying the highest price for the hatred between their families which is death. This drama describes many conflicting passions such as the love and the hatred;the joy of file and the desire to die; the happiness and despair.

Romeo camefrom a noble family Montague. He had the loving, reasonable and tolerantparents who always tied to help him overcome his troubles. Romeo was alwaysready for love, but the unhappy love (without any reciprocity with a womannamed Rosaline) put him in the deep sadness.

He was a young man, somewhatimpetuous and always ready to defend his values and honor. The true love hasdefinitely changed Romeo – he became a reasonable, calm and ready to makeconcessions man. Then, the following tragic events (such as the kill of Tybalt, the exile from the Verona) made him a much more mature person. However, regardless of the adversity, he decided to connect with his beloved Juliet andleave the world with her.

With the impressive calm, he committed a suicidebecause his life lost its meaning after Julia’s death. The great love was aforce destroying everything.Juliet camefrom the Capulet family. She was only 14.

She was rather calm, quiet andobedient girl. What is more, the great love also changed her as Romeo. Shematured faster mentally and emotionally – she was even able to take the mostdifficult and final decisions. She set a clear goal: to avoid getting marriedto Paris and to connect with her beloved, Romeo. When Romeo killed Tybalt andwas banished from Verona, she decided that she would not stand the separationand the marriage with an unloved man. Therefore, she committed a suicide, whichproved her love to Romeo.

Thebackground to the love of the main characters is the conflict between theMontague and Capulet family. The Montague family is full of love and peace. Onthe other hand, the Capulet family is full of aggression, with a very highlevel of notion about the position of their family in the society. In fact, thereason for hatred between both these families is really unknown. However, thereare numerous battles in the squares of Verona between some members of bothfamilies. This dispute is assessed negatively even by the society. Even thePrince Escalus and his proclaimed sanctions(about maintaining the public peaceat all costs) cannot stop the conflict. These families, only in the face of thetragedy that is the death of their children, Romeo and Juliet, notice theabsurdity of their behavior.

However, it is too late, because it is impossibleto return the life to the dead. The timeonly adds popularity to Shakespeare’s works. Even though, several hundred yearshave passed since the English writer’s death. His works have been a classic ofa theatre for many centuries. They evoke emotions such as joy or sadness.  The basis of the timelessness ofShakespeare’s writing are the most important issues contained in his works andconcerning the emotions and attitudes of people. These issues are first of all:the love and hatred, the crime and revenge, the lust for power, the jealousy, greed, and fear. It can be seen in the story of Romeo and Juliet.

It isgenerally known that they were the first who took their own lives because oflove. Presumably, because of this pure love, it is the most popular drama inthe whole world. The workwas quite easy to read and comprehend because it contains timeless values suchas the love and hatred. In addition, the whole story of the two lovers whofight for love in spite of adversity, which is contained in the drama, issurprising and poignant, squeezing tears among past and present generations.Furthermore, each of us is learning love from the very beginning of life, sothis topic is widely known and not too difficult. It is obvious that each of usin our youth experienced at least one unhappy love. This dramacontributes to my knowledge about the human being, because “Romeo andJulia” affect such problems as the relationship between the child andhis/her parents (it is generally known that it is not always good); how theparents influence their child’s decisions; how great the love to another personcan be. I think that these are sufficient arguments confirming the timelessnessof the “Romeo and Juliet”.

I believethat the book deserved its place of the popularity based on the people’s knowledgeof this story. Each of us in our lives encounters various adversities, someonein love, someone in revenge and other aspects. I do not think that this bookcould help anyone get out of their love distress, and probably it would worsenthe reader’s emotional state. However, the story of this love is so touchingand beautiful that in my opinion, it is worth reading. Personally, I read it along time ago, and it is still in my memory.

In addition, I decided to describethis drama of Romeo and Juliet in my journal for this reason.
