Law intrigues me.The development in the law and the way itadapts to an ever changing society has fascinates me extensively. I have alwaysbeen a determined and fengrossment person.
I have a broad interest in lawsubject. I am at my best when challenged, have the skills to manipulateevidence and enjoy evaluating the microcosm of human relations. Since 16, Istarted to have interest in my History subject. To deepen my knowledge, Idecided to forgo my science subjects and choose art subjects in my college. Ihave improved my understanding of the law by taking Economics, Law andMathematics in A-Level.
The combination of subjects has developed my skills ofarguing, analysis and evaluation that are significant when studying law. With regardsto Economics, I learned the way how business economics so appropriately blends withlaw in daily issues. I have able to view many economics analytically and makesuggestions regarding relevant improvements in law and current affairs. Next, Ienjoy learning different aspects field of Law, how the English Legal Systemoperates and influence the society.
I enjoy taking up pleasure in reading primarysources and present persuasive arguments in a clear, reasoned and logical way.A good lawyer requires good decision making skills, thus I took Mathematics. It gave me a financial sense regarding the futureeconomics and accustomed me to a logical approach in solving problems.
After completing A-Level, I haveundertaken work experience in a company named Tricor (Services). I have learnedwealth of local knowledge to provide expert advice on setting up and doingbusiness especially related to law. It provides me wide range of integratedtraining, advisory services especially in the field of law advisory. I discovered how a law firm operates by sendingofficial letter or memorandum or articles to their clients.
I was given achance to assist in maintaining the lists of securities shareholders, implementing corporate actions and investors relations. My enthusiasm towardslaw studies seems superficial, so I joined in an international law firm, Naqiz& Partner Advocates & Solicitors. I was given a chance to switch in differentdepartments: commercial department, banking & finance department andconveyancing department. Under commercial department, I learned on how theyprovides advice to varied client base on wide range of corporate and commerciallegal matters, including commercial and corporate governance and compliancematters. In finance department, handling all forms of loan and financingtransactions including documentation ranging from Traditional Loan Agreements arecomplicated, but I do enjoy. Furthermore, I followed a case in County Court, observing the work of both barrister and judge, how the impact of lawyer’sprofessions and skills could affect the outcome of the case.
I love thesatisfaction when I saw a client smiling at the lawyer’s hard work aftercompleting each cases. This has reinforced my choice to read law. Law mayinvolves simple matters likes helping someone to buy a house, transfer theownership of assets, but it helps needy people whether serving justice in acourt room.
I’m sure that I can’t find these satisfaction in others job. During high school, I participated innumbers of extra-curricular activities. I had the privilege of becoming head oflibrarian. Through this, I had the chances of giving speeches to my contemporariesfrom others schools, which trained me to speak in front of people without anyfear or anxiety. I also chaired the Student Council where I had activelyorganised numbers of my school’s welfare, delegated workloads and tookexpeditions with my teammates representing the school as an ambassador. I tookpart in interschool debating, this has further improving my communicationskills immensely, able to provide strong arguments and points to support my ownopinion, which is significant in the career of legal profession.
In theuniversity, I joined A-Level Students Club. I met new people from differentparts of the world. I gained new experiences and understand the importance ofteamworks. I was exposed to mooting in university, which is completelydifferent with debating or public speaking. It involves parts of persuasiveadvocacy instead of supporting own opinion. I understand the importance ofapplying those propositions in order to argue which I tend to make extensive submissionsin the past, which is not accurate. Mooting might be nerve cracking but it isfun! Academically, I was awarded by A-Level Department for achieving the “BestLaw Student” award for my entire intake.
My desire to study law has firmlyrooted in my mind. Besidesthis, I enjoy reading and exercising to loosen up. I may not be amongst thebest in sports, I do practice from time to time to maintain overall physicaland mental health.
A lawyer must be able to read and write. One of my favouritebook related to law is “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. The author usesthe characters to present the civil rights and racism in United States. Anattorney who hopelessly strives to prove the innocent black man accused of rape. This has exposed to me both of the dark and light side of the law, whichmotivated me to study law to eliminate unjustice.
Law may seem to be extremelydifficult and challenging but I’m passionate and confidence in overcoming allthe problems. Frommy experiences thus far, I feel I will be suited for law degree. I always workhard to the best of my ability in order to achieve my goals and develop thecareer that I wish for. My personal qualities, academically and socially wellequipped, ability to apply myself to studies, hobbies and extra-curricularactivities build me an appropriate candidate as a law student. I hope that youwill award me with the privilege of an offer from your university for my chosencourse.
