I did not have enough saving hence they

I am tasked to conduct an interview on an entrepreneurand lucky for me, I have the honour to have an interview with this young entrepreneur, Mr Ron Cheng Shan Renand his story somehow inspired me. He is the owner of A.T the nail bar X salon, located at Kesington Square, 2 Jln Lokam. Founded in January 2013, A.T the nail bar X salon incorporates Mr Cheng’s experience in his family business of Construction industry, Hydrotec services, specialising in the Plumbing industry. The salon is a partnership company with his brother, Cheng Shan Anwhen they saw the rising trend in the industry.

They needed roughly 120k for the start up of the business, they did not have enough saving hence they decided to seek help from their parents since they were very supportive towards their business venture. There was still a shortage of 50k during their first stage of pitching, they went to Ace Spring Singapore and secured the last 50k of funding.Mr Cheng had to take over his family business when he was only 14 years old, not knowing what to do at that time as he was still studying in secondary school.

He started doing some research and reading up on different entrepreneur’s stories. That was where he start to haveinterest in entrepreneurship, ideas start to sparks and he started sketching all of them out after he complete his O levels. With the interest in entrepreneurship in mind and handling the family business, he took Business Studies for O level to increase his knowledge. During that period of time, no matter who busy Mr Cheng is, he will personallycheck on the administration work and also head down to the sites to ensure he understand the full-scale services his company provides. He will do his best to gain knowledge from every aspect he could in his family business.

Even though Mr Cheng did not have any entrepreneurial activities in his life, he was hooked by how an individual or a group can lead and motivate the entire company to be in sync and understand the company’s vision. He was inspired by them and he wanted to have his own company whereby all his workers have the same vision as he does. He also wants the world to see his vision.Mr Cheng also mention that the key elements that attracted him to start his own business are financial freedom and innovation.

In order to start a business, innovation is a very important element to take note of as the business has to stand out from the same industry. Financial freedom is another key element that drew many entrepreneurs into the industry. It gives them a flow of cash in the business. When it comes to a mentor that help Mr Cheng, his parents are the first that came to his mind. They are the ones that are always there to guide and support him. They also provided lots of advices that helped the business to grow and fine-tuned on any ideas he has.

After starting a business, Mr Cheng’s life was like a roller coaster where it is full of high and low, to him not everyone is willing to experience the life of being an entrepreneur. Since there will be days where you are on cloud nine but there are always times when can get you so depress due to the business growth. Sometimes of bad that you might ever want to close the business. There are a lot of unpredictable turns of events, sometimes you have to do all the work yourself especially the first start up phrase. One of the key challenges that left a deep impression was the delegating of task and client issues.

Sometimes once you did not micro mange people, it could have many different problems could come up. For client issues, it is all about public relations and it is important to smile and get over with it and not let it hinder you too much. For Mr Cheng, becoming an entrepreneur made him more of an extrovert due to the amount of socializing he needs to handle. Through socializing also got him many like-minded friends where collaboration come into place which helps the business to grow along with monetary gain and satisfactory gain. On the other hand, there are losses as well, friends are lost along the way as Mr Cheng got really busy with his business that both his hands are tight up to it and it reduce the time he get to spent with his friends. However even though he had really little time, he still prioritizes his family time and that is something he will not give up on.

Lastly, Mr Cheng said that being a successful entrepreneur, it is important to have innovation and embraced changes on different circumstances. Do not be afraid to leave your comfort zone to venture and do not be complacent after your business is on track or even be automated. Think far and take small steps at a time, everyone are able to be successful in their own ways. It is just when they will and how much effort are they willing to invest on their dreams. In conclusion, after the interview with Mr Cheng, I gain a fair amount of knowledge on what to expect on being an entrepreneur not only that I do learnt some valuable life skill which would allow me to know how to act if I meet up in the same situation.

I believe if someone who is just a few years older with just an O level is able to be so successful, everyone could also. If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, No one can stop you. This quote that I heard from Mr Cheng some how motivated me to follow my dreams in being an Aircraft Engineer even though there are a higher percentage of men in this industry and people around me always do question if I did choose the right cour
