Scenario
 
You are working in a large
manufacturing company as a technician in the drawing department. Your company
has many clients round the globe and have a mix of people coming from
different nationalities and socio economic background. Some clients want to install
CAD systems for the first time and ask for your advice on the benefits of CAD
in engineering and manufacturing. Your manager wants you to do the tasks mentioned
below in the form of report writing which should be typewritten with font
face and size as Arial and 12, line spacing 1.15 and text justified. It
should also have appropriate headings in Bold.
 
 
Task 1
a)      Your
manager has asked you to write a report by describing the advantages,
compared to other methods (like manual drafting and model making), of
producing drawings electronically using a CAD package. The advantages need to

the computer and can be accessed from anywhere with internet connection.
Another advantage CAD is there no chance of losing your documents unlike
manual drawing. Also cad drawing can be saved electronically without the paper;
it is an environmental friendly method.
The best of
virtually representing a structure is 3D drawing. 3D model can be create by
manual drawing but it wouldn’t look realistic as 3D model by auto cad.  Creating 3d model it’s challenging and time
consuming, it’s much easier with auto cad.
The greatest advantage of CAD drafting over hand drafting
is the reduction in design time, which leads to reduced design costs. The
cost of purchasing and replacement cost of the equipment is expensive
compared to equipment used to draw manually.
Technology is invented to make peoples life
easier, save time. Auto cad is unimaginable faster than manual drawing. When
manual drawing take several hours of drawing something, but with cad it can
be done in few mouse clicks.
With manual drawing all the objects drawn the size
must be correct and alignment. Even a small mistake can be catastrophic to
the project .with cad there is a lots of technique available to improve your
accuracy in the project.
All drawing tools are electronic. Absolute accuracy can be
maintained. The computer keeps a record of all dimensions in the drawing.
Editing processes include the ability to copy, move, rotate, mirror and erase
drawing parts. Drawing storage is on a hard drive, memory stick, CD, DVD or
floppy disk rather than in a drawing folio. Hard copies can be produced in
colour and to a high professional standard. The drawings can be reproduced as
often and as quickly as you want.
Even though CAD very helpful still it has some
disadvantages such as some shapes that are difficult to draw using CAD software.
Preferably the computer equipment should be in a climate controlled,
dust-proof environment.     
With manual drafting, you can separate information onto individual
transparent overlays. For example, a building plan might contain separate
overlays for its structural, electrical, and
plumbing components.
With CAD, layers are equivalent to transparent overlays. As with
overlays, you can display, edit, and print layers separately or in
