After I watched “Tuesdays with Morrie”, I realized that the movie was about the greatest life lessons that Mitch Albom learned from his old college professor Morrie Schwartz, who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. The movie shows the beautiful conversations of Mitch and his favorite professor Morrie, as they talked about life, death, marriage, and family, at their meeting every Tuesdays of the week. Despite the unforgiving illness that Morrie had, his approaching death does not keep him from making a wonderful life for himself and the people close to him.
The movie has a lot of heartwarming life lessons that I had experienced while watching. Learning Morrie’s understanding of human relationships, and his positive attitude towards life and even death is intriguing. I cannot believe that a dying person whose days are counted can have such positivity and be optimistic about life. It was like Morrie is giving me advice, while listening to his tales and his philosophy of life. Morrie’s is an extremely lovable person, and we all need a person just like him.
There are some scenes from the movie which are really meaningful that interests me in many ways. But, I was most touched by the scene when Morrie talks about forgiveness to Mitch. He says:
“Make peace. You need to make peace with yourself and everyone around you.”
“We need to forgive ourselves. For all the things we didn’t do. All the things we should have done. You can’t get stuck on the regrets of what should have happened”
These are my favorite quotes from the movie because I find it very meaningful. He makes me realize that life is too short to spend on regretting, or depending on a tomorrow which will never actually arrive because life is shorter than we realize. The movie left me in a state of soul-searching. It helped me see the world as a more meaningful place. What Morrie says left me to contemplate about life. If we do not learn how to forgive, we cannot thrive and move forward, therefore we cannot live a meaningful life and we will always continue to suffer. I have made mistakes in the past, and sometimes I wish I could turn back. I realize that I am guilty not only of my actions but also for my thoughts, for wishing someone pain and misfortune to arrive in their life, for feeling anger and greed over such things. But I must stop and learn how to change. I must forgive and make peace with myself, by being a better person today than I am yesterday. From the movie, I can learn a lot from Morrie’s advice, and I have found that the best life lessons are often about people who have experience interesting lives and have earned wisdom that is valuable to others, just like how Morrie’s wisdom is valuable to Mitch as he continues his journey in life.
I am always on the hunt for movies or books that will change my life, and this movie has a lot of wonderful life lessons. I am glad that I have seen this movie. I recommend this movie to every human being who is in search for love and wisdom because this movie will surely help us in serving the greatest purpose of our lives in this world, the love for one another.
